Introducing: Bliss My Heart

by | Music, music interview, Music Video

Bliss My Heart slid into our DM’s on our Instagram Page. She sent us link to her music, and I was mesmerised – I have never heard anything like it!
Mixing classical choir-like vocals with electronica. Her songs make me feel like Soko and Skrillex had a love child – Bliss My Hearts new EP: Morningstar!
indieRepublik: Tell us a little bit about your musical background

Bliss My Heart: I grew up in a family where music is important. My father was Moon Martin’s manager when I was a child. Moon offered me my first synthesiser and I learned synth on this one. I learned guitar when I was 12. I discovered many bands like Mylène Farmer ( French singer ), Indochine ( French band ), The Cure, Depeche Mode, Bauhaus, Guns N’Roses very young, that gave me the passion of the music. I wrote my first song when I was 13, it was rock song ! Through the years I mixed electro inspiration into my music. I always wanted to do a serious project. I found a great team to work with and I became Bliss My Heart.

indieRepublik:: How did you come up with the name Bliss My heart?

Bliss My Heart: I love the words “ Bliss “ and “ Heart “ so much, I mixed them ; Bliss My Heart. It’s a positive and love message. What my music is.

indieRepublik:: How does the songwriting process work for you?

Bliss My Heart: I start with the music, with my piano, computer and guitar. Music depends on the mood I’m in, if I’m hyper or if I need to express something more quiet. Then, when I write lyrics it’s with my feelings, in general it is about something I have lived, my experiences. I send all my demos to my team Eddy Rateni & Damien Badey, then we record voices in Damien’s studio. They do the arrangements and mix. They do an amazing job !

indieRepublik:: If your music was a movie, which genre would it be in?

Bliss My Heart: Thriller. A movie like “ Casino “ for example. A movie where it could be very intense, emotional and action-packed. A movie where you have the desert, city, mountains, sea ..

indieRepublik:: Where do you get your inspiration from?

Bliss My Heart: In many kinds of music ; 80’s new and dark wave, also rock music like Guns N’Roses, The Cult and Velvet Revolver and some singer like Lana Del Rey, Serge Gainsbourg and Morrissey.
And a lot of country I went ; Mojave’s desert was inspiration to the song “ A. Rose Diary “ for example. And Monaco / Villefranche Sur Mer was inspiration to “ We’re All The Young “

indieRepublik:: Can you tell us a bit about your inspiration and thoughts behind the music you make? I must admit, I’ve never really heard anything like it! I think it’s amazing!

Bliss My Heart: Thank you so much. My music is a mix between what I have in my head, what I want to do in the world and what I am. It’s very personal project. When I write a song, I need to put an image on. When I’m in an amazing place like mountains or the desert I need to put music on. Bliss My Heart is a music and visual project. I need to put all inspirations, influences on. In the clip “ A.Rose Diary “ I wear a Japanese Kimono, it’s in reference to the Mylène Farmer’s clip “ L’Âme-Stram-Gram “. I think is very important to express all the things we love in our passion.

indieRepublik:: Have you been staying productive in the corona-lockdown?
If yes, how so?

Bliss My Heart: I must admit, I have a lot of time at home, I enjoy this time to work on this project. My firs EP “ Morningstar “ was released the 1st of March on all the platforms, I take care of the promotion and I released the first video clip from “ A. Rose Diary “ last week. It was released in Les Alpes, France, with an adorable Husky.

indieRepublik:: Do you see your songs in colour or in black and white?

Bliss My Heart: In colour, I’m someone who is positive and I see my songs in velvet pink.

indieRepublik:: If you could play anywhere in the world, any stage existing or not-existing anymore, where would you play?

Bliss My Heart: Coachella’s Festival of course ! It’s an amazing place and playing in the desert should be something very special. I went to Indian Wells two years ago, I feel this place is very unique, very intense.

indieRepublik:: Do you have any tips or tricks on how to stay productive/motivated in these weird corona-times?

Bliss My Heart: We live for the first time in this kind of situation, we have to learn to live with that and to rearrange our lives and our work with that. Stay positive, stay strong and do not stop believing in our project.
