Noel Maurice: Hi Yael, where are you from?

Yael Shterenberg: I’m originally from Israel, I moved to Berlin 4 years ago.

Noel Maurice: What did you do before you became a designer?

Yael Shterenberg: My first real job was in the theatre. I worked In the Khan theatre in Jerusalem, Israel while studying fashion design. I worked in the costume department and assisted the costume and set designers. It was great, I was immediately drawn to that more avant-garde and theatrical side of fashion.

If you can dream it, you can do it. I had it tattooed on my arms.

Noel Maurice: How would you describe yourself? And how would you describe your approach to life / design / art?

Yael Shterenberg: I am a dreamer and a creator. An artist. And a designer. My approach to life, design, art: If you can dream it, you can do it. I had it tattooed on my arms. I guess that’s an approach that makes the most sense to me.

Noel Maurice: Where do you find your greatest inspirations?

Yael Shterenberg: People mostly. The bigger they are and what they do the more I get motivated myself.

Noel Maurice: Is there something you’d like to achieve with your art?

Yael Shterenberg: I hope my art will inspire, or at least bring up a smile.

Noel Maurice: How would you describe your aesthetic sense?

Yael Shterenberg: Cool and colourful!

Noel Maurice: Tell us about where your designs have been used before / or what design work etc you’ve been engaged in up til now?

Yael Shterenberg: I am now working on a new collaboration with a talented baker, The Challah Prince. We are working on an original printed hoodies line. He bakes, I Illustrate. The first items will drop next month.

Noel Maurice: Are you optimistic about 2021 / the future?

Yael Shterenberg: Yes I am! And I hope people will concentrate on that.

I love Berlin. The mixture of people is always refreshing
