A one of a kind creative experience

Having been born in Vienna and inspired by the town’s vibrant history of Viennese Modernism, the Forward Festival is finally coming to Germany’s most creative city: Berlin. The event is a festival honoring creativity, design and communication and has become, in its 6 years of existence, an important platform for the entire creative industry in German-speaking cities. Through its inspiring talks and unique workshops, the festival unites industry leading creatives with independent artists and professionals.

The Forward Festival, coming to Berlin on May 29th, is an exciting experience and a project that thrives for the connection and the exchange between inspiring activists and creators as well as aspiring future actors.

Passionate and impactful speakers

Let’s dive into this Berlin edition of the Forward Festival that’s getting us all aquiver. For the time being only four of the speakers have been announced, but that’s enough for us to already book our tickets for the creative event. Take a look:

For the past 40 years, Cooper has specialized in shooting graffiti and street art within the city of New York. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide and appeared in countless magazines from National Geographic to Vibe. She has published numerous books including Subway Art (1984), affectionately called the « bible » by graffiti writers and one of the best selling art books in history. Being able to meet and hear Martha Cooper lecturing about her outstanding carrer and her experience as a successful artist trying to understand the beauty of New York city’s streets is certain to be a remarkable moment of the festival.

Another announced speaker for the Forward Festival is Dutch graphic designer, advertising manager, editor, collector, exhibition curator and artist Erik Kessels.

Kessels is well-known as a book publisher that particularly focuses in the absurd. He has published over 50 books of newly appropriated images and photos found during his trips, encounters and researches. Vessels’s fascination for the transformation of simple to preposterous is the root of a unique artistic sensibility that the Forward Festival is very proud to bring to Berlin.

The artist has worked for many prestigious companies that couldn’t get enough of his talented interpretation of colour and irreplaceable use of new possible visual futures, tools and languages. His curriculum vitae includes Boiler Room, Nike China, 032c, Hypebeast China, Gallery W139, Van Gogh Museum, Mannequin Records, Pinkman Records, Borshch Magazine and Pin-Up Magazine. Currently a member of the highly respected Jan Van Eyck Academy, Jonathan Castro is developing a hybrid concept between the ancient and future, questioning the relationship between aesthetics, fiction, rhythm, and spirituality: a new project he will certainly be thrilled to talk to us about in May.

If you are already blown away by this line up and that you cannot wait to be thoroughly inspired by the talented artists hosting the festival, we can assure you it’ll just keep getting better.
