Umasan – Fashion Designer of the year in indieberlin’s indie awards 2015

by | Fashion

Umasan, founded in 2010, consists of the two Umasan sisters, Sandra and Anja. They claim to be the first vegan high fashion brand – their materials, as you can guess, contain no traces of animals or animal derivatives and are ecologically and sustainably sourced. But of course thatโ€™s not why we chose them as runners-up of our fashionista category, but because we love their sense of style – flowing shirts and leggings, assymetrical trousers and jackets, and almost exclusively black and unisex, and made with materials like wood, bamboo, soya, artifical materials and organic cotton.

Their main focus isnโ€™t on the vegan aspect of their clothes, but on the design of them.

They also use materials only from Europe, and visit the factories where their clothes are made regularly to make sure that working conditions are appropriate. But theyโ€™re quick to point out that they donโ€™t want to be stuck in the crap-hippy-look corner. Their main focus isnโ€™t on the vegan aspect of their clothes, but on the design of them.
