Don’t miss the Fête de la Musique kickoff party on the 20th!

by | indieBerlin

Now there’s a solution for everyone who really can’t wait until the 21st of June and the Fête de la Musique!

Now you just have to wait until the 20th. No, we haven’t decided to move the whole thing a day earlier out of a lack of patience, instead – just as in 2018 – we’re throwing a launch party for the Fête de la Musique in Freheit 15 in the Altstadt (old town) of Kopenick on the evening of the 20th.

And everyone is welcome. I mean everyone.

Although it was concocted as a party for all the organisers and people involved, a kind of kick-off event, a way of drawing breath before the whole thing takes off, and perhaps even toasting the success of the event before it happens rather than after; still the Fête team are inviting everyone to come along and join in the fun. And I mean everyone.

With a (short) speech held by Klaus Lederer, Berlin’s senator for culture and for Europe (busy man) to open the evening, there will then be live music from the amazing Moonlight Benjamin, Mint t (who has graced these pages before), Onejiro and the irrepressible German rapper and Kopenick native himself, Romano – plus a diverse array of food trucks, drinks and a whole lot of people who share that particular spirit of joie de vivre and the urge to do something fun, musical and that brings people together rather than pushes them apart; that includes rather than divides; and that unites rather than polarises. Because – as much of a cliché as it may be – music is the one language that’s common to everyone, everywhere.

So: feel free to come along and help us pre-celebrate the Fête de la Musique warm-up, kick-off, pre-launch party, the ‘Auftakt Abend’: Everyone Deserves Music @ Altstadt Köpenick, Freiheit 15, Joseph-Schmidt Musikschule – 8pm 20th June.
