Die Sonne scheint! In this cemetery the ambience chills the soul.
The classic beats which seem made in the 90โ€™s play on the background maybe by some MPC 2000 giving Motown-like samples. Funk-lo-fi notes with bumping soul choruses rise songs from the dead. The necromancer is called Umse. The magic can be seen in Festsaal Kreuzberg this 3rd of October.

The spell is not complicated but it ainโ€™t easy Yo! It is not even original, Dre and Run DMC have done it to name a few and who wants original when you have good olโ€™ boombap in your ears.

So, the spell is like this: you grab this funk and soul old songs, add a lot of african american choruses, some piano riff and a guitar when necessary and mix (brasses to taste). Add a head banging drum beat and let it simmer in the MCโ€™s mouth.

After a couple of years youโ€™ll have this long gone sampled songs dancing as youngsters dressed in new clothes in your headphones, with new colors but the same old funky feeling, reminding us why they used to be here and making us thank the DJ for bringing them back to us with their old essence but changing their psyche for Umseโ€™s.

Itโ€™s Melancholic because it makes you think of the good old rap days, when uncomplicated beats with good chosen samples made the road for a good trip, but also fills you with hope, to see that the scene where most rappers come from is not forgotten.

Umse is making a sound system party in a cemetery, where we dance to the beat of the dead, the voices of gospel ancestors, good old s4!t that will always make you smirk, timeless spells that bring memoirs of better times that have passed but telling you they can come back to hunt you for your satisfaction.
