INDIEBERLIN INTERVIEW WITH THE GRAVES – Glitter and Punk Vibes poured into your cereal

by | indieBerlin

The Graves will be headlining the next Basement Bash at Marie-Antoinette on April 13th. For this occasion, we talked about their emergence from the wicked underbelly of Berlinโ€™s rock & roll scene.

They have been making waves since they stepped on the Berlin scene in 2016. These gender-bending, glam punk rockers provide high power performances and are sure to make you jiggle your hips like you’ve never let yourself do before.

indieberlin:ย did you come up with the name โ€˜The Gravesโ€™?

Leo: Itโ€™s a an old MC5 b-side.

indieberlin: If you had to describe your music to a deaf person, what would you say?

Leo: I wouldnโ€™t say anything Iโ€™d just wrestle them to the ground and plant a big red kiss on their forehead.

We all have identical birthmarks and so when our mutual friends remarked upon it, we knew that it must be fate and that we should start a band.

indieberlin: If your music was a movie, which genre would it be in?

Leo: Rom-com easily.ย Because itโ€™s cheesy and sometimes awkward and usually thereโ€™s cringy dancing involved.

indieberlin: Tell us a secret about yourself.

Fab: I really like pizza Hawaii, now probably all my Italian friends will hate me.

indieberlin: How did you get together as a band?

Leo: We all have identical birthmarks and so when our mutual friends remarked upon it, we knew that it must be fate and that we should start a band.

indieberlin: What music are you listening to at the moment?

Leo: BROCKHAMPTON. I think that what theyโ€™re doing is awesome. The creative environment theyโ€™ve put together is great. Churning out art and a clothing line and everything as well as the music. Itโ€™s genius.

indieberlin: What was your biggest stage fuck-up?

Fab: I played a sold-out show in Barcelona with my old Band as support for a band called No Use For A Name, after 5 songs I fall down on my Marshall stack, then I stood up, put my Marshall on again and finished the concert like nothing happen. Very embarrassing moment.

indieberlin: How do you feel about covering a song?

Fab: really good, I love playing my favorite songs.

indieberlin: With whom would you never share the stage with?

Fab: Freiwild

indieberlin: Do you see your songs in color or in black and white?

Fab: definitely in colors, but not just my songs, music in general, like itโ€™s painted by an old impressionist artist. Think Renoir or Modigliani.
