Since she presented the world with her debut self-titled album Jessica Pratt in 2012 through Birth Records Jessica Pratt has been gaining acknowledgement as a promising young songwriter and performer. An interlacing of a gentle melody, her caressing voice and a guitar sets up a brittleness that seduces with its austerity. There is a sadness in her words, the sadness that does not hurt you, it makes you aware of where your heart is, if there is one.
She is often perceived as a folk songwriter, but it is a hard claim to make. Her music is sensitive, emotional and kind of hippyish but could be best described as acoustic emotional pop. This is also the flow of her second, recently released album On your Own Love Again, where she sings about past and future, about endings and beginnings, the paradox of time that is constantly present.
