Matthew E. White jumped out of nowhere in 2012 with his debut album The Big Inner which mixed gospel, soul and psychedelia with groovy and mostly purred vocals. The large bearded man himself knows how to get funky while at the same time tapping into some very particular aspect of the American subconsciousness. Psychedelic gospel? What the hell’s that?
Apparently something that resonates with a lot of people, since his first album was a huge success, and his second, Fresh Blood, looks set to repeat that. Matthew E. White is performing on 25.4 (tomorrow at time of writing) in Bi Nuu in Berlin and we’re looking forward to checking him out there.
