by | indieBerlin

Who are these up-and-comers that have been the buzz of the local Berlin scene lately? If you want to find out, come to the next Basement Bash on Friday 19th at Marie-Antoinette.
Remember the movie “Where the wild things are”? remember how you felt like your soul was turned into an innocent hurricane of beauty? Reminding us of alt-J and Arcade Fire, Me & the Monster hypnotic vocals and sexy bass lines will make you want to dance around a campfire with feathers in your hair.

indieBerlin: How did you come up with the name?

Me&theMonster: we like the “monster within us” concept and worked around it.

indieBerlin: How did you get together as a band?

Me&theMonster: We’re studying at the same university and got along well. We had similar musical taste and thought it would be a good idea to play together. Suddenly we were rehearsing every day of the week and made it official.

indieBerlin: How does the songwriting process work for you / in your band?

Me&theMonster: We jam together in some rehearsals and take ideas from there. The good ones get developed and the lyrics are written for it. After we do the structure together.

indieBerlin: If your music was a movie, which genre would it be in?

Me&theMonster: fantasy adventure!
we think vegetarian people are awesome
indieBerlin: Tell us a secret about yourself.

Me&theMonster: we think vegetarian people are awesome.

indieBerlin: What was the nicest compliment you once got?

Me&theMonster: That our bass is sexy.

indieBerlin: How do you feel about covering a song?

Me&theMonster: We enjoy transforming it into a new style and make it sound more monstery but we prefer to play our own songs.

indieBerlin: With whom would you never share the stage with?

Me&theMonster: Ted Nugent.
We want to have a big castle and make concerts and festivals in it.
indieBerlin: In ten years you look back to today and think:

Me&theMonster: we were SO cool. We want to have a big castle and make concerts and festivals in it. And only Me & the Monster songs are allowed.

indieBerlin: Do you see your songs in colour or in black and white?

Me&theMonster: no doubt, in colour.
