indieBerlin are excited to present Tryin’, the debut single from Berlin-based independent artist ORIAN.
By day, ORIAN is no other than Irish multi-instrumentalist Joey Ryan, who spends his days composing his signature sound (as well as studying hard for his BMus). Having earned his stripes as a performer and songwriter over the course of the past ten years, ORIAN is the intriguing new adventure he’s currently embarking on.
Having relocated to Berlin in 2016, he’s been squirrelling away on his third full-length record, which was recorded in late 2018. We wouldn’t be surprised if a European tour announcement comes soon – it looks like there’s a lot more where this came from, and we’re keen to see the direction this exciting new project will go in.
Having already released a handful of EPs and LPs via a separate project, his latest endeavour manages to maintain the atmosphere of his earlier work, whilst exploring a curious new creative process and sunnier style and tone. The video is simple and minimal – there’s no need for excessive over-production, as ORIAN lets the music speak for itself. Directed and shot on location in Berlin by Nick Scholey, it’s an intimate and breezy outing that seems pretty spontaneous.
It’s a laid-back, mellow record with a ridiculously catchy melody line and beautifully executed vocal harmonies. For a first release, it’s a great track, and we’re excited to see what ORIAN will share with us in the future.
