WIN 1×2 TICKETS FOR THE SCHLAMMPEITZIGER SHOW THIS WEDNESDAY!

by | indieBerlin

This wacky lo-fi electronic producer has just released his 11th album: Damenbartblick auf Pregnant Hill; and on Wednesday night heโ€™s performing at Acud Macht Neu.
Schlampeitziger, the nom-de-plume of Jo Zimmerman, refers to a creature that lives in the flat, muddy waters of the North European plains – the flatulent weatherfish. Read into this what you will, but this fish expels air from his bum when threatened.
Zimmermanโ€™s experimental style began with his love of old Casio synthesisers in the mid-80โ€™s
Zimmermanโ€™s experimental style began with his love of old Casio synthesisers in the mid-80โ€™s. He harnessed the new-at-the-time aural qualities of the Casio CZ230-S, and found his own sound. In 1993 he created Schlammpeitziger, the musical performance artist you see today, with his debut album released on just 100 cassette tapes.

After releasing several records he signed for the Cologne label A-Musik, but has put music out on several more, with his latest on Hamburg label Bureau-B.
Schlampeitziger likes composite nouns – his first five albums have discombobulating names like Freundlichbaracudamelodieliedgut
Schlampeitziger likes composite nouns – his first five albums have discombobulating names like Freundlichbaracudamelodieliedgut, Spacerokkmountainrutschquartier and Augenwischwaldmoppgeflรถte.

In the late 90โ€™s he collaborated with FX Randomiz on music for radio plays which went on to win several awards. It was also during this time that he met the video artist Ulrike Gรถken, who to this day supports his visually unique live performances.
Youโ€™ve got to see him live, to hear him, to experience… perhaps even feel him.
To call his sound simply esoteric or unique wouldnโ€™t give you the true flavour of the man. Youโ€™ve got to see him live, to hear him, to experience… perhaps even feel him.
