Powerful precision, visceral intensity, and delicate restraint are the characteristics of BIG|BRAVEโ€™s minimal yet majestic sound, which the Montreal based trio have refined on their third full-length Ardor, due on Southern Lord, 15th September.
The catalyst for BIG|BRAVE was sparked in 2012, their particular sound design has its premise based in rock sounds with the use of two guitars, vocals and drums. Across their recorded output to date, and including the new album Ardor, the trio performs with an urgency and intensity that feels necessary.
heavy, strong, and elevating force
BIG | BRAVE demonstrate the fluidity of experimental rock when elaborated into vast, abstract, and often hypnotic sounds, saturated in soul baring emotion. The trio put everything into their music until thereโ€™s nothing left to give. Their particular art in musical refinement expands ever gradually, unfurling into a very heavy, strong, and elevating force.

As with their previous album Au De La, the new record, Ardor was again recorded a the Hotel2Tango, this time by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (of Jerusalem In My Heart). Jessica Moss (Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra), who was a special guest on Au De La, played violin on all of the three new tracks and Thierry Amar (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) played contrabass on two of the tracks.
No band is comparable to BIG|BRAVEโ€™s sound
No band is comparable to BIG|BRAVEโ€™s sound, and on Ardor, they continue to offer mesmerizing and memorable journeys of sonic breadth and depth which cannot be understated. What these three musicians can create is never short of staggering.
