Josh Savage- How far I’ve Come
A British Parisian based in Berlin has a uniquely distinctive ring to it, and that is the pathway of talented indie-folk singer-songwriter Josh Savage.
This sense of uniqueness is mirrored in his music, as Savage creates organically unrestrained emotional music personal to him and his life experiences. This refreshing candidness genuineness shines like a beacon of light amongst the sterileness and duplicity of most modern music. He has already released one album to date (2020’s critically acclaimed record “The Long Way Round”, and excitingly has new music for us in 2022!
Savage’s latest single, “How far I’ve Come”, is a hauntingly honest, nostalgic and emotive folk track, with the intimate, immersive vibes of great artists such as Ben Howard and Bon Iver. Against the atmospheric and stripped back instrumentation (which only heightens the personal theme of this song), Savage powerful lyrics flow over you like a gentle wave as he candidly reflects on his past and his present in an invigoratingly uplifting and empowered manner, which is bound to resonate with any listener. The song’s beautifully expressive nature is also elevated further by Savage’s tender and impassioned vocal performance, giving it a real compelling depth.
It is hard to convey profundity of emotion in music, but Savage does it with seamless ease (a rare trait to find) that would rival the sentiment of Ben Howard’s- “I Forget Where We Were” or Coldplay’s- “Parachutes”.
Josh Savage constructs music with a dark yet optimistic undertone and such intimacy that you think he’s personally singing to you. “How far I’ve Come” sees Savage bare his soul to the listener, and you get back so much in return.
Such a well-rounded, mature and assured effort is a sight to behold. And Savage is undoubtedly an artist to keep an eye on in the future.
