Top 10 tracks to come out last month

by | Music, New Music

February has drawn to a close and as March begins with at least the hope for optimism and sanctity, as it signals spring’s first day with the vernal equinox, such excitement is also mirrored in the latest music releases. I look back on the best-released tracks of a memorable February for so many reasons, poignantly good and bad.

Porridge Radio- Back To The Radio

Brighton indie darlings Porridge Radio have released the first single from their uniquely entitled forthcoming third album, “Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky”, in the track “Back To The Radio”. A song with a stadium-rockesque quality, a slow-building ballad that culminates into a wonderful cathartic singalong.

Fontaines D.C.- I Love you

Post-punk band Fontaines D.C. are back with their latest single, “I Love you”, an impassioned love letter to their homeland of Ireland. A layered, evocative song combined with the band’s trademark high vigour. “I Love You” is taken from the band’s upcoming third album “Skinty Fia”, and if this track is anything to go by, it promises to be a belter.

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard- Good day

Cardiff four-piece rockers Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard are gaining quite the following, and the latest single, “Good Day”, is bound to further this. An assertive and rejuvenating explosion of 70s power-pop, think Queen meets Steely Dan!

boy pablo & cuco- La Novela

Chilean–Norwegian indie-sensation boy pablo has teamed up with Mexican American singer-songwriter Cuco for their Spanish-speaking collaborative single “La Novela.” The five-minute uplifting psychedelia-soaked love ballad sees boy pablo and Cuco harmonizing and exchanging verses with an alluring dreamy-pop melody and soothing instrumentation, which gives the beautiful sensation of serenely drifting on a cloud.

Isaac Dunbar- bleach

Rising alternative pop singer-songwriter Isaac Dunbar’s latest track “Bleach” is a candid and joyously catchy pop offering that has you coming back to it over and over again. At just 18 years old, the future looks remarkable bright for the Massachusetts native.

Big Thief- Red Moon

“Big Thief” is the latest single of American indie folk/rock band Big Thief, from their recently released epic 20-track album “Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You”. An awe-inspiring song from the genius that is Adrianne Lenker.

Ibeyi- Sister 2 sister

Afro-French Cuban twin duo Ibeyi are back with a bang, with their joyous and emotive alternative R&b single “Sister 2 Sister”. Which celebrates their sisterhood and unbreakable bond; it is the first single off their highly anticipated latest album “Spell 31“, which will be released on May 6.

BEACH HOUSE- HURTS TO LOVE

Dream-pop heavyweights Beach House’s latest single “Hurts to love” is a soothing ambient gem, with their signature dreamy synth sounds, drenched reverb and nostalgic production work. However, Beach House are a band that are constantly pushing the boundaries of their musical style, and “Hurts to love” sees Beach House create a bit more of a synth-pop sound and could have easily been found in the 1980s!

DENZEL CURRY- ZATOICHI FT. SLOWTHAI

Flordia rapper Denzel Curry has once again teamed up with British MC powerhouse slowthai with the track ZATOICHI, a drum and bass-inspired number full of powerful breakbeats. Also, remember to watch the fittingly fantastic samurai-inspired video.

REX ORANGE COUNTY- AMAZING

Sensational singer-songwriter Rex Orange County’s new song “AMAZING” is full of his signature upbeat and soothing positive energy, reinforced by a stunning string section. Rex is always at his best when dealing with the emotional nature of life, and “AMAZING”, is a poignant ode to falling in love. It is yet another banger for the Surrey native.
