by | Music, New Music

As we entered springtime in April and the time of optimism, this sentiment was also felt with some exciting music releases. Here are my Top 10 tracks to come out in April:

Interpol – Toni

The kings of moody indie-rock “Interpol” are back with the song “Toni”, destined to be a fan’s favourite, thanks to its melancholic disposition and exhilarating and intense climatic build-up.

Wet Leg – Ur Mum

British indie-rock female duo Wet Leg has had a meteoric rise in recent times and continues this trajectory with “Ur Mum”, a track filled with their trademark swagger and confidence, where they throw insults in the direction of an ex-boyfriend with humorous lyrics such as “When I think about what you’ve become, I feel sorry for your mum,”.

FOALS – Looking High

Indie-rock veterans are back with the disco-tinged single “Looking High” from their highly anticipated latest album “Life Is Yours”, released later this month. “Looking High” is filled with catchy guitar riffs and funky bass tones to get you all moving on the dancefloor! The song captures the new upbeat Foals sound whilst incorporating their distinctive melancholic buzzing trance.

Katy J Pearson – Game of Cards

Talented singer-songwriter Katy J Pearson is back with a bang with her new single “Games of Cards”, about the vulnerability of a flowering relationship and not knowing where it’s going. The song perfectly showcases Katy’s supreme talent for writing grand choruses and melodies. Her alt-country sound has also been taken to another level with “Games of Cards “, thanks to the sax and multi-layered harmonies, slick productions and blossoming lyrical themes.

Melody’s Echo Chamber – Alma

Melody’s Echo Chamber makes this list for a second consecutive month, and with good reason. “Alma” is a swooning transcendent song for the soul, an intoxicating atmospheric psych-pop classic with its swirling synth and string sections. And sees Melody transition enchantingly between her enthralling French and English vocals.

The Smile – Free in the Knowledge

The Smile is a rock band consisting of Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner. The iconic trios union culminates in a sonic masterpiece that combines the ’90s alt-rock sound and the jazzy, atmospheric, diverse film scores of Yorke and Greenwood, resulting in an ethereal listening experience. In addition, the harrowing orchestral score is jaw-droppingly good and keeps the song gilding along.

Superorganism – crushed.zip

London-based wonky pop virtuosos Superorganism’s latest single, “crushed.zip”, is filled with their distinctive surreal sound and unique

glitchy and dynamic soundscape. “crushed.zip” is the third track released from their upcoming second studio album, “World Wide Pop”, due on July 15th.

Jamie xx – LET’S DO IT AGAIN

Producer and DJ Jamie xx is back with his first solo track since 2020. “Let’s Do It Again” has Jamie’s distinctive sound of warped soul samples, anthemic choruses, and thumping synth arpeggios that implore any listener to dance to.

Warpaint – Hips

Los Angeles art-rock female quartet Warpaint’s new single “Hips” is the third single from their eagerly-awaited new album, “Radiate Like This”. The song is quintessential Warpaint with its driving and tight rhythm section, hypnotic essence, stunning harmonies, menacing tone, and lyrics.

Daniel Caesar – Please Do Not Lean ft. BADBADNOTGOOD

R&B crooner Daniel Caesar has collaborated with Canadian instrumental band BADBADNOTGOOD on the neo-soul song “Please Do Not Lean”. A powerfully candid and emotive track in which Caesar talks openly about what he can and cannot provide to his love interest in a relationship

I hope you enjoyed the tracklist, and all have an amazing and blossoming May, fitting as the month was named after “Maia”, the goddess of growth!

See you all next month!!
