Bringing all the smoothness of an Australian beach, and enough funk, hip-hop and indie vibes to jam to all summer, Winston Surfshirt creates intriguing sounds and cool beats. Coming to Urban Spree next Wednesday, 23rd May, we canโt wait to get our smooth tunes on.
The six-piece band first came together in 2015, lead by British lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Winston Surfshirt, meeting his band members and developing their creative musical flair in the northern beaches of Sydney, Australia. Theyโve created a blend of surf-indie, West-Coast hip-hop and 80s funk that resonates with Glass Animals, Pond and Tame Impala.
Winston Surfshirtโs debut album Sponge Cake, released last year, received a lot of attention including Elton John on Radio 1, was named one of the breakthrough artists of the year by Zane Lowe, and BBC Radio 1โs Huw Stephens. Filled with unique and complex lyrics and chill summer beats, itโs gained notoriety and popularity with 7 sold out Australian tour shows.

Surfshirtโs debut single Be About You has had over 14 million streams worldwide and with good reason.
