LAโs shiniest new rockโnโroll quartet will be bringing their energetic live show to Berlin for one night only โ if youโre a fan of being tucked up in bed by 9:30pm with a mug of hot cocoa, this probably isnโt the show for you.
Acting as more of an explosion of sound and colour than your typical guitar-based music bandโข, Death Valley Girls are sure to deliver a whirlwind of a performance. Fresh off the heelโs of 2016โs Glow in the Dark, their latest release Darkness Rains is a delicious mess: itโs articulate and intelligent, with perceptive lyrics and fiery melodies which youโre guaranteed to be humming for weeks.
Battling guitar lines and punchy vocals are staples of their sound, and this latest record builds on their signature style. It holds onto their roots, but isnโt afraid to experiment with the new and unexplored โ naturally, this results in an intriguing record full of grit and gut and notable self-awareness.
Itโs normal to try and pigeonhole bands into specific genres, but thatโs something of a struggle with this group. Whilst their sound is predominantly good old fashioned rockโnโroll, thereโs a smattering of punk and a dash of post-hardcore thrown in for good measure.
The charmingly grungy setting of Skalitzer Straฮฒeโs Monarch bar couldnโt be more fitting: thereโs an eclectic charisma to this gem of a hideaway. Itโs sure to be an eyebrow-raising evening, and youโd be something of a fool to miss it.
