Sit down comfortably, put on your headphones or connect your speakers. We invite you to enjoy Satellite, the brand new single courtesy of Greg Thompson, singer of the band Askers Dodge.

Last Friday May 10th, he released his first solo single “Satellite“.  With this new song, Greg shows us a new side of his personality that doesn’t come across with Askers Dodge: he is calmer and more relaxed. With Satellite, away from Askers Dodge’s explosiveness, he brings us to a more intimate universe.

Staying on the retro side, Greg Thompson offers us a four-minute-twenty time-travel back to the fifties. The lyrics are referring to an unreachable and melancholic love, “a lost star in a crowded sky”, with a style reminding us of some Arctic Monkeys or David Bowie songs. Added to a well-arranged accompaniment and a forty-second solo, the result makes a really effective and enjoyable song.

The video is also worth watching. It has some psychedelic/paranoid inspirations and reminded me of some scenes of Las Vegas Parano, the movie from Terry Gilliam. Be that as it may, the video added to the music opens the doors to a waking dream.

We loved Greg in Askers Dodge but are nicely surprised by Greg Thompson’s solo project. If you haven’t already listened to it, what are you waiting for ? What do you think, is up above “a better sight”?

Well, we don’t  have much information about Greg’s next move. However, we don’t know about you but even if the satellite girl “won’t be back anytime soon”, at indieBerlin we are really curious and hope that Greg Thompson will be back very soon with new songs.
