Well, Christmas is almost here and while some of you may have already bought your Christmas presents, I’m still running around like a headless chicken doing last-minute shopping. While I am doing that, I have noticed some of my favourite trends for this season and I am enjoying the inspiration coming from them.
This week the Indie Republik blog brings you 4 trends that we have been having fun with this cold season and are hoping you have also noticed.
Anything Fluffy Goes
Since the temperature drop started we are seeing a lot of fluffy things. Plush is big this season and for good reasons it’s warm, it’s comfy and laid back. Think soft fluffy vest, plush hoodie and my personal favorite: a plush monster or bear onesie.
To top it off, we are seeing the retro puffer jacket everywhere. Around Berlin the North Face puffer Jacket has been spotted, but let’s take this a step further and add some colour! Bright yellows, funky pinks, festive reds and moody blues. Which brings me to the next trend:
Colour the Cold Season Happy
Call in all happy colours, because if we are going to endure more of this gray weather (5months in Germany) and more corona restrictions, we will want some joy. Whether it is a statement jacket or a bight purse, try out a colour that you haven’t tried before and let yourself be pleasantly surprised at how good it can fit.
Think Chunky
Chunky handbags in the puffer vest style, scrunchies and the full length puffer coat.Crocs are Back. Yes, they are back and more chunky than ever.Their new selection sports even chunkier mules, just in case we want to change from the chunky dad sneaker trend that is here to stay.
Sustainable is In
Ditch any wrapping paper that contains plastic, wrapping paper tends to be used only once. Alternatives include: lovely gift bags that can be re-used for other occasions, cloth wrapping, and paper wrapping, you can also get the watercolours out and paint some newspaper to wrap them present. Let’s be mindful of the waste we produce and find ways to have a positive impact on the planet.
