Berlin-based experimental trio Grizzly Bird are dropping their debut record tomorrow night at Barkett – and we’ve got a pair of free tickets to give away.
The first release through newly formed The Famous Gold Watch Records, Empathy is the culmination of a length creative process, infusing lush orchestration with clever lyrics and intelligent harmonies. Comprised of vocalist Hans Gnendinger, drummer Florian Dietrich, and bassist Nils Wenzel, the multi-instrumentalists bring a unique energy to each and every one of their performances.
Initially from Bavaria, the band in question has honed their craft on the streets of Berlin, playing with unorthodox ideas and exploring different avenues of storytelling. With a simple, laid-back approach, this is a band who clearly don’t take themselves too seriously.
Described as “a conceptual international journey that imagines tales from the minds of the animal kingdom, pulsing with electro-tinged chorales and unhurried narratives”, it’s certainly a curious listen. With support courtesy of banjo-loving songwriter Donna Stolz, it’s sure to be an intriguing concert. Our interest has most certainly been piqued, and we’re keen to see where Hans and co will take this exciting project next.
