Introducing: Guty, and his new single “Monsters”

by | Music, music interview, New Music

As written in his Spotify bio: Guty is a janitor by day and a musician by night.

Guty is direct and to the point, with a humorous approach. He sent us his new single Monstersย in a DM on Instagram, and as we, in these Corona-times, don’t have a chance to meet up with people, we fixed an interview over e-mail.

Listen to Guty’s new single Monsters:

indieberlin: Tell us a little bit about your musical background

Guty: Iโ€™m a big fan of whatever makes me dizzy so Tame Impala and new era Kanye I really love (:

indieberlin: How did you come up with the name Guty?

Guty: Itโ€™s the first half of my last name: Gutierrezย

indieberlin: How does the songwriting process work for you?

Guty: I generally start playing around in the computer and one thing leads to another and now I have a new song

indieberlin: If your music was a movie, which genre would it be in?

Guty: A mixture of Lilo and Stitch and Fight club

indieberlin: Where do you get your inspiration from?

Guty: Kim Kardashianโ€™s novels and Fiodor Dostoyevskiโ€™s Instagram feed

indieberlin: Can you tell us a bit about your inspiration and thoughts behind your recent release Monsters?

Guty: Itโ€™s about a good friend of mine who never finds the time to pick up my calls yet she had the time to get two new tattoos.

indieberlin: Have you been staying productive in the corona-lockdown?
If yes, how so?

Guty: Barely, first two weeks i was drinking rum everyday after 3 pm

indieberlin: Do you dream in colour or black and white?

Guty: Depends if Iโ€™m wearing glasses

indieberlin: Do you see your songs in colour or in black and white?

Guty: Monsters is definitely purple on the sidesย

indieberlin: If you could play anywhere in the world, any stage existing or not-existing anymore, where would you play?

Guty: Pinkpop 1992 when Eddie Vedder stage dived from the camera crane <3
