Pip Blom’s blooming fuzzy pop-rock is about to hit Berlin @ Monarch Berlin, 05.07.18

by | indieBerlin

With Blur and The Breeders as a lifelong inspiration, Amsterdam-born singer Pip Blom has an edgy, fuzzed rock-pop that develops with each new song. With a full band ready to perform on Thursday 5th July next week, at Monarch Berlin we are super excited to offer a raffle for your chance to see this alt-rock, indie and unique sound live.

Now a Lo-Fi indie band, Pip Blom started off in 2016 with the release of her single “Hours” with Toaster Records. From this, her bandmates came together to support the style Pip Blom was creating, including bassist Casper van der Lans, Gini Cameron, and even Pip Blom’s own brother Tender Blom as her guitarist. Pip even stated: “We bicker a lot, but we’re really on the same level”.

I want our songs to be vibrant and energetic. I want them to reflect what we are trying to be live.

2017 revolutionised Pip Blom with the releases of three tracks with the full new band, including “School”, “Babies are a Lie” and “I Think I’m in Love”, which earned them over 240,000 hits on Spotify and a new collection of big-name fans including, NME, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Huw Stephens and Mark Riley. “I Think I’m in Love” contains all the great elements for a true alt-rock classic, with her fuzzed-out, slightly radio-esque voice on the track with pop-elements in the layers of the tune.

Pip Blom did a Netherlands tour in 2017 that kick-started their live performance and made that their inspiration for their ensuing music style, stating: “I want our songs to be vibrant and energetic. I want them to reflect what we are trying to be live.”

We’ve still got a long way to go, but hey: you should always dream big.

Pip Blom has accompanied big indie names such as Srufer Bllo, Franz Ferdinand and The Breeders on their respective tours and the media haven’t been able to get enough of them! Noisey stated that Pip Blom ‘is ready to join the ranks of 2018’s rising guitar acts’ and BBC presenter Gideon Coe described her songs as “excellent stuff”.

We see Pip Blom going a long way with the talent, style and ease of their music, and we can all take something from Pip Blom herself: “I just like the thrill of doing something new,” said Pip. “We’ve still got a long way to go, but hey: you should always dream big.”

You can have the chance to see Pip Blom next Thursday 5th July @ Monarch Berlin by just sending us an email at win(@)indieberlin.de to win 2×1 tickets to the concert!
