Is Zagreb’s INmusic the best value festival you’ve never heard of?
Question: Which European festival has boasted headliners such as Queens of the Stone Age, Nick Cave and Arcade Fire in the last few years but yet for a weekend ticket costs about the same as a quality mid-range blender? The answer, of course, is Zagreb’s INmusic (24th – 26th June). Attracting the stellar talents of the Cure, Foals and Kurt Vile amongst others this year, this summer festival is a low-budget alternative to the financially inhibiting Glastonbury’s and Lollapaloozas of this world. Having flown under the radar somewhat in recent years with really impressive lineups, it seems only a matter of time before people are flocking there.
Even after what we can only imagine was the hideously affordable ‘early bird’ ticket period, you can still have the weekend experience for only 74€. With the opportunity to dive into a European capital easy on the wallet and big on its party culture it seems an unforgivable sin not to pick up a ticket at the next available opportunity. INmusic is a must have on any indie-leaning Euro festival tripper: only a short budget flight from Berlin or most other European cities. Considering the cost of seeing Gothic overlords The Cure in any of their stadium shows would far exceed the cover here it seems a worthwhile investment. The privilege of seeing them at Mercedes Benz Arena three years ago was around a cool 100€, before the sizeable investment needed for a beer.
