Sofa Salon goes all out – four acts, two shows, one weekend, great music

by | indieBerlin

Sofa Salon #74 on Friday 27 October sees Melanie Horsnell and King Curly, two of Australia’s finest underground folk musicians, sharing the living room stage.

King Curly is a quiet Australian songwriting treasure who writes deeply sweet, humane and compassionate songs, and has toured with Paul Kelly and k.d. lang. He’s been off building mud-brick houses and has now returned with a set of songs inspired by the combustible nature of the Australian bush and modern life.

Melanie Horsnell is a returning Sofa Salon artist and welcome anytime she returns to us and to her many French fans. From daily busking in London and a four-year residency at Sydney’s Excelsior Hotel, to various European tours and releases, Melanie’s been honing her rich storytelling for the last 20 years, releasing six albums of gorgeous original folk in English and French, and even a 2016 covers album Songs To Sing On A Saturday Night.

Sofa Salon #75 on Saturday 28 October sees Israeli dark-folk musician Sun Tailor and Australian folk troubadour Michael Brinkworth grace our living room stage.

Israeli-born songwriter Sun Tailor has been playing music since he was 20, refining his music in London and Tel Aviv, and releasing two albums packed with drama and melody.

Michael Brinkworth is a road-seasoned folk musician from Australia, who writes and play prolifically, running several Berlin singer-songwriter evenings, and touring in various band projects. He’s released one album and four EPs of dusty, world-wise folk under his own name.
