The kids are doing it for themselves – BIMM end of term gig this Friday

by | indieBerlin

On June 15th the new BIMM generation presents itself live on stage at the Maschinenhaus in the Kulturbrauerei

It’s only been a few years since BIMM moved to Berlin. The British and Irish Modern Music Institute, already well established in the UK, has since then continually increased its presence in and impact on the music scene of the city.

Pulling in young musicians from all over, it’s a fountain of international talent and joie de vivre. This Friday the BIMM will hold its end-of-term gig – presenting its students both old and new and showing just what they have to give.

Producer legend Smith has been in the music business for 30 years and has worked with music legends such as The Police, Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow, Van Morrison and Duran Duran

But a party rarely comes alone: BIMM also celebrates the launch of their BIMM Berlin album 2018 this evening, recorded and produced by Sting producer Pete Smith. This year, an expert jury consisting of Meike Nolte (Artist Relations & Partnership Manager, Beatport), Stine Meyer (Head of Booking, Filter Music Group) and Martin Waschkowitsch (Head of Production, Mesanic Studios) made their selection. From June 15th the album will also be released on Soundcloud. With experimental hip-hop artist Lexodus (“Toast”), producer and multi-instrumentalist August Ingram (“Cruise Control”) and Cheap Divorce (“Turnpike Lane”) three of the five selected artists will perform their songs at the End of Term Gig.

As noted above, the album was produced together with the award-winning producer and BIMM tutor Pete Smith at Mesanic Studios. Producer legend Smith has been in the music business for 30 years and has worked with music legends such as The Police, Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow, Van Morrison and Duran Duran. His live recording of Sting’s debut solo album “The Dream of the Blue Turtles” even won a Grammy Award in the mid-1980s. His most recent successes include working with Randy Crawford and Sasha and the Danish musicians Anna Faroe and Dicte.

Not one to miss then!
